The earthquake was felt across a wide area of Romania, including the capital city of Bucharest. It was also felt in neighboring Moldova and Ukraine, including the city of Odesa.

Tremors Cause Damage and Panic

The earthquake caused damage to buildings and infrastructure in Buzău County. Several buildings were reported to have collapsed, and many others were damaged. Roads and bridges were also affected, making it difficult for emergency responders to reach affected areas.

The earthquake also caused panic among residents. Many people were evacuated from their homes and sought shelter in open areas. Some people reported feeling dizzy, nauseous, or disoriented after the earthquake.

No Immediate Reports of Casualties

As of the time of this writing, there have been no reports of any casualties or serious injuries as a result of the earthquake. However, rescue workers are still searching through the rubble of collapsed buildings, so it is possible that the number of casualties could rise.

Geological Survey and Aftershocks

The Romanian National Institute for Earth Physics (NIEP) is currently conducting a geological survey to determine the exact magnitude and depth of the earthquake. NIEP has also issued a warning that there is a possibility of aftershocks in the coming days.

Residents in affected areas are advised to stay informed about the latest updates from NIEP and other official sources. They should also be prepared for aftershocks and take necessary safety precautions, such as securing loose items in their homes and avoiding damaged buildings.
