Emory University's Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
Emory University will honor Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 with a variety of events, activities, and performances. The month-long celebration is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino individuals to the university and the surrounding community. This year's theme is "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation."

Key Events in Honor of Hispanic Heritage Month
The keynote speaker for the 2023 Hispanic Heritage Month celebration is Julissa Arce, author of the critically acclaimed memoir "One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression Is Destroying Our Democracy." Arce will speak on the importance of civic engagement and the fight for voting rights.
Other highlights of the celebration include a panel discussion on the history of Hispanic and Latino communities in Georgia, a screening of the film "Selena," and a performance by the Grammy-nominated Mariachi Los Camperos.
Emory has a long history of supporting Hispanic and Latino students, faculty, and staff. The university is home to the Emory Latino Student Association, which provides a sense of community and support for Hispanic and Latino students. Emory also has a number of programs and initiatives that support the recruitment and retention of Hispanic and Latino faculty and staff.
