Political Career
Menendez began his political career in the New Jersey State Legislature, where he served in the State Assembly from 1988 to 2002. He was then elected to the State Senate, where he served until 2006. In 2006, he was elected to the United States Senate, succeeding retiring Senator Jon Corzine.
